    Cushioning Substantial, Weight Perfect

    I'm pretty cautious about indulging the trend toward cushioned shoes. I find that too many of the models I've tried are either too "slushy" for me to feel controlled or too heavy...or even both. For me, cushioned shoes need to be light enough that they don't feel like bricks on your feet and springy more than pillowy.

    So I purchased the Mizuno Neo Zen with some caution. I had read good things, liked the specs on the weight, and loved Relay's price. I feel like I guessed right on this one. I'd say that right now this is my favorite cushioned shoe. It seems to me that they've gotten the technology on the foam just about perfect here for a shoe that feels very protective for putting in miles, but light enough that you can pick it up for some tempo without feeling like you're fighting your footware.

    I also like the innovative design shape, the sock lining, and the slip on heel loop. It's a nice shoe, and Relay is offering it at a great price.
