Finally! A decent support shoe from Asics again!

Years ago I was a devotee of the Asics Gel-Evolution line - one of the early motion control shoes. I bought multiple versions of them over many years, until Asics ultimately discontinued them. For years Asics didn't make a super supportive shoe for those of us who are flat footed and heavy pronators. I cycled through Hoka Gaviotas, Brooks Beasts, Saucony Echelons, and the late great New Balance 940s for the next decade. Occasionally I'd buy another Asics to try, like GT-1000s and GT-2000s, only to be disappointed and giving them away to charity resale shops. The New Balance 940s were the only thing that really worked for me, and when New Balance discontinued them, I was at a loss. Looking at the photos of these GT-4000s, I decided to give Asics one more try. Glad I did! These provide the arch support and stability I need, and seem to be a worthy replacement for my beloved NB940s. So glad I took a chance on these!

My only complaint about the GT4000s is the tongue. It is a soft, easily folded fabric, and I find it often folds over on the side when I put the shoes on. I have to be very careful to loosen the laces and check the tongue positioning before lacing them back up snugly again.
